Some types of contacts are designed for longer wear or specific eye conditions like dry eyes or eyes with astigmatism. Various designs of contact lenses allow for daily , weekly, or monthly replacement modalities.
Some patients have eye irregularities that prevent standard contacts from being effective. At Absolutely Optical, we offer hard to fit contacts as well. These lenses are also known as specialty contacts.
Evaluation
Prior to prescribing contact lenses, Dr. Weil determines what level of vision correction you require. Refractive error (commonly known as nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism) is evaluated by measuring how the eyes adjust focus when a series of different lenses are placed in front of them. Our optometrist uses the latest computer technology to assist in taking these measurements. To schedule an appointment for a vision evaluation with our Tampa optometrist, call (813) 348-9696 today.
Corrective Lenses
After determining the level of refractive error, Dr. Weil works with you to determine whether contact lenses or glasses are best for your lifestyle. If you suffer from certain conditions such as dry eye or allergies, glasses may actually be the most comfortable corrective solution. Contact lenses are available in either soft or rigid gas permeable form. Contact lenses need to be changed daily, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly, depending on what type of lens selected. Specialized contact lenses are also available for patients with special eye conditions. Call us at (813) 348-9696 if you are interested in learning if contact lenses are a good fit for you.
Cosmetic Lenses
Cosmetic lenses are also available to transform your eye color. Advances in contact lens technology have created great options for cosmetic and prosthetic lenses. Some people benefit from handmade custom tinted contact lenses which can camouflage a color variation or irregularity and produce a natural eye color. Call us at (813) 348-9696 and speak to our knowledgeable staff if you are interested in enhancing or changing your eye color with contact lenses.
Orthokeratology
For many people with a nearsighted prescription, we are now able to reshape your cornea to reduce or eliminate your dependence on glasses without LASIK surgery.
Orthokeratology uses hard gas permeable contact lenses with special curves designed to reshape the cornea (optical lens in the front of the eye).
We use the latest Ortho contact lens from Bausch and Lamb- the Moonlens.
These lenses are worn at night while sleeping. In the morning you remove them; and enjoy all day corrected vision without glasses or contact lenses.
