Antibiotics of the Future

Many people go to the doctor for a cold or flu and ask for Antibiotics. Often the doctor agrees; but, sometimes it is not in their best interest. A person takes the antibiotic to kill the bacteria; however, if they stop the antibiotic too soon or if it is not quite strong enough, then a small amount of the strongest bacteria never gets completely killed. One's body then has to use its defenses to try to kill those last few germs.  If it does not succeed then those strong bacteria can grow and multiply and reinfect you with a worse problem than you had initially.  Bacteria can mutate into slightly different strains and get more and more resistant to treatment with today's antibiotics. The attached article takes fascinating look at how we are trying to protect mankind from the ever evolving powerful bacteria strains.
